What this calculation tells you
An equal bill split is straightforward until decimal rounding leaves a few paise unallocated. This tool shows an approximate equal share and, where needed, a practical rounding plan that totals the rounded bill exactly.
The tip percentage applies to the entire bill amount you enter. If a bill already includes a service charge, decide whether you want to enter any extra tip at all. This calculator does not determine restaurant policy or what anyone is obliged to pay.
The method, explained
Total = bill × (1 + tip ÷ 100) Equal share = total ÷ number of people
The inputs use the units printed beside each field. Values shown in result cards are rounded for readability; the calculator keeps more precision while applying the formula.
A worked example
Bill total: ₹2,400.00 · Optional tip: 5 % · Number of people: 4 people.
Approximate share per person: ₹630.00

Assumptions & limitations
- The bill is shared equally, not by each person’s ordered items.
- The total is rounded to the nearest paise before distributing rounding differences.
- Number of people must be a whole number of at least one.
Questions about this tool
Why might one person pay one paise more?
Some totals cannot be split exactly into equal two-decimal amounts. The displayed plan distributes the remainder.
Can I split without adding a tip?
Yes. Set the optional tip to 0%.
